Ceriani Family 3rd March 2012

Read at your funeral: Anyone who met my Nonno knew within minutes that he was a real character, who always had a story to tell and advice to give. If you were lucky enough for him to class you as a friend, you will know his generosity and willingness to help anybody. For a friend nothing was too much and he loved you all as his family. We realised as he became ill how many friend loved him back, and the family would like to thank everyone who helped keep him mobile, especially those who collected him every morning to take him for coffee over Barry Island. I am sure you know how much that meant to him and how grateful he was. As well as his friend his other love was of sport, he loved most sports, boxing, golf, formula 1 racing, football to name a few, but above all his passion was snooker. He loved playing, coaching and watching snooker and supporting the many clubs in Barry he has been a member of. My memory of my grandfather will always revolve around food, the first question always asked was ‘have you eaten’ and whether the answer was ‘yes’ or ‘no’ never mattered as you would always be made to eat something. He loved cooking and would have cooked for the whole town if he could. At home he was always happiest cooking and singing opera at the top of his voice, especially Nessum Dorma. Nonno was the one who taught us to ride a bike, took us out every Sunday and spoilt us with chocolates hidden behind our ears. He loved us with such joy and pride that it lit up his face when we were together. He will be missed by all, this poem sums up how much he means to us; Since I was a little child, In all that I've been through; You've always been my hero, No one stood as tall as you. You were the one who took the time, To teach what I needed to learn; The lessons in life you shared with me, You shared with love and concern. I loved you as a little child, And now that I am grown; I share those lessons you taught me; With children of my own. Generation to generation, I'll pass on your legacy; I'll tell of my loving Nonno, And all that you mean to me.
